What is our reward for our labor in Christ? Do we deserve our wages? The parable of the laborers in the vineyard shows us an excellent picture of the attitude we should have about our labors for the Lord. All of the workers received the same payment; it did not matter if they started at the beginning of the day or the end of the day. In the same way, it does not matter how long we work for Christ, it simply matters that we are faithfully serving him when we finish this life. The reward that we receive will be more than we could hope or deserve. It would be like buying a mansion for 5 cents or 5 dollars, in either case we are receiving far more than we are paying for. As Paul says in Romans, “I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory that is to be revealed to us.”
